VeeV Spirits collaboration. [spicy grilled eggplant caprese stacks w. crispy parmesan lavash paired w. fruit cup sangria]

DSC_0060-LVeeV Spirits contacted me a couple months ago asking if I’d be interested in creating a dish to pair with one of their seasonal cocktails. I gladly accepted the offer, and chose to work with the VeeV Fruit Cup Sangria. The cocktail was sweet and delicious, and paired wonderfully with my slightly spicy grilled eggplant stacks. Both the cocktail and eggplant stacks are making an appearance at our Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow!

VeeV is featuring my recipe on their Facebook page today…check it out here!

On this special Nurturing Thursday, let me take the opportunity to wish all of my American friends a blessed Thanksgiving Holiday!

What is Nurturing Thursday, you ask?

In this amazingly competitive society of ours, how many of us truly feel good about ourselves? How often do we extend to ourselves … the same courtesies, considerations, nurturing, forgiveness and understanding we would a loved one, a friend, or even a stranger?

Ethos November 27 2013

Kamloops Aug 2012 033Today I am mindful of memories of warmer climes,
Warm breezes, cold lemonade and daisies.
I feel regret for things that no longer are
Or will be exactly so again.
As I focus on the memories, I press them to my heart
Crushing the sweet fragrance of their blooms and inhale
Ethos.

Perhaps it has discovered me.

A beautiful well-minded word,

It’s hard to tell but,  it makes it’s Amazing Effort Involving Offering Understanding,

Spending Time November 24 2013

Wings_of_Time__One__by_selenartI wish I had realized earlier in life,
that I love spending time. I would have placed more value on it.
I would have spent it more efficiently,
I think.
Or perhaps  not.
I have soared on the wings of time.
I have also realized that I have let others
steal, waste and kill my time.
Less time left now to love.

Wednesday Words – To Understand

Truly

Dragonscale Clippings

I am not too bothered about being understood. I understand myself and my handful of close friends understand me. That is enough. I know where I’m coming from and where I’m going. If someone else understands what I’m saying, that’s a bonus! At least they have made the effort to read my work.
I do try and understand others. I often take myself out of my moshulu and put on other peoples’ shoes. This helps me to develop characters in my stories and also enables me to connect with people who are outside my circle of experience. I cannot, however, understand the minds of murderers, rapists or paedophiles; I don’t think I’m meant to…
