The Kiss of Dawn January 24 2014

Image

The kiss of dawn with golden tinges
The door of morn on rosy hinges
A day birthed new~beckons me.
In silent awe I gaze on dawn light
Hoarding time in prayer to start right
Before the clamoring voices ~get wind of me.

Carpe Diem’s 2nd episode of the “Use that Quote” Challenge

Carpe Diem’s 2nd episode of the “Use that Quote” Challenge.  The goal is to write a haiku, senryu, tanka or kyoka inspired on a given quote.

Today’s quote: “Forget not that the Earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair” ~~ Khalil Gibran

My Bare feet patter

Playfully scuffing the earth

Wind sifting through toes

Soaping away the Day January 2014

Image

Leaning in, washing,
soaping away the day,
I broodingly eye the sudsy water …
coil and swirl down the drain,
taking the grime of life with it.
Is that weariness I see clinging to the
basin edges? I wipe it clean, loosening it’s grip
before it finds me again, re-settling.

Easy To Be Gracious January 18 2014

Image

It is easy to be gracious

On a sunny day.

People smile

And bask in the rays,

Pretending it is spring,

However, it’s still far away.

Coats flung open to the breezes

And splashing through puddles

Mindful of the moment

Content till it freezes.

In Memorium Barry Peachey 1955-2014 January 15 2014

Image

In the quiet of my mind

I ponder Death.

I met him again today

Walking out the door with furniture,

Carrying away any memory of a man who

As quietly as he lived,

vacated life and the building.

I place a notice.

A suite is now available.

Alive When Taken ~ January 14 2013

Image

Alive when taken ~

Speaks of the flowers

Now imprisoned.

In a virtual world

Through the lens

Of someone’s pain.

Although the breath ~

Has forever faded

Their imprint remains.

To be admired

A balm indeed

for a beggared soul.
